Declan Mitchell,
Service Delivery Manager, Middle East
18 JUNE 2026

What does your career growth and journey look like to date?
I started my career in the Royal Navy’s submarine service, where I spent nine years in a role that demanded focus, discipline and trust in the people around you. It taught me how to stay calm under pressure and make sure the job gets done properly, even in challenging situations. After leaving the Navy, I moved to the UAE, worked in operations and completed a business management degree remotely through RGU. That eventually led me to OSSO, where I now work as Service Delivery Manager in the Middle East.
Tell us a bit about your role at OSSO.
I look after service delivery from the start of a job through to completion, from client enquiries and quotes to equipment, manpower and certifications. I also help manage jobs while they are live and support the team to make sure equipment is maintained, certified and ready for what comes next.
What is your favourite part of the role?
I enjoy the pressure of last-minute jobs. Sometimes a client needs a package ready quickly, and being able to work with the team to get everything prepared and mobilised to a high standard is a good feeling.
It can be challenging, but once the job is done and the client is happy, it is very rewarding.
What has been one of your highlights so far?
One highlight was a last-minute request that came in late on a Friday afternoon. A client needed equipment turned around over the weekend so it could be ready for site on Monday morning. It was a busy couple of days, but the client was happy and it showed what the team can do when everyone pulls together.
How have you found the team in the Middle East?
The Middle East team are great. Everyone works hard, supports each other and gets on with what needs to be done. People here enjoy the challenge, which makes the job much more enjoyable. We also know we can reach out to the wider OSSO team in the UK when we need support.
What is happening in the Middle East business just now?
The business is expanding. Alongside mud cooling, we have set up a plate heat exchanger service centre and are also moving into water treatment. It looks like it will be a very busy year, which is what everyone wants.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
My wife and I recently had a son, which has been amazing. Life now is about balancing work, family and life, but it has been a really special time for us. Outside of that, I enjoy playing golf, padel and making the most of life in the UAE.
